Biography
Dr. Kenneth MacKinlay is a graduate of the University of Louisville School of Medicine where he also completed his Orthopedic Surgery Residency - serving as Administrative Chief Resident his final year.
He was awarded Best Resident Teacher and Researcher of the Year honors during his tenure. Dr. MacKinlay recently completed a Spine Surgery Fellowship at Twin Cities Spine Center in Minneapolis, MN - one of the nation’s most renowned spine centers. He looks forward to providing operative and non-operative spine care solutions as well as general orthopedic care. His hobbies including spending time with family, golfing and fitness training.
Notes
Spine issues may develop for many reasons, including injuries and degeneration (arthritis). Patients most often complain of pain in the back and/or neck which can sometimes travel down the legs or arms. Some patients may also develop numbness or tingling in the legs/arms, or even weakness. Common spine issues include:
- Stenosis (narrowing of the spinal canal/nerve openings)

- Spondylolisthesis (instability/slippage of one or more vertebrae)
- Deformities (abnormal curvatures of the spine)
- Fractures
