What do you have to Lose?

As part of the Lighten Up Jefferson County weight loss contest (2018), King's Daughters' Health and the Healthy Communities Initiative are offering three community programs designed to help residents achieve success and understand the challenges of successful weight loss. All three sessions are free and open to the public. You do not have to be a weight-loss contest participant to attend.

The second session is noted below:

What do you have to Lose?
Tuesday, February 6
6:30 - 7:30 p.m.
KDH Conference Center (Oak Rooms / Basement level)

Presenters: Sierra Rogers and Amanda Corbin

Preparing healthier meals is one way to reduce calories and lose weight. When you reduce fat and other high-calorie components in meals, you reduce overall calories. Choosing what you eat (and how much) matters, too, obviously. But how you fix those meals is also important. You can bake or grill instead of frying. You can use skim or reduced-fat milk instead of cream or whole milk. You can use seasonings to enhance flavor rather than adding gravy, butter, or cheese. Registered dietitians Sierra Rogers and Amanda Corbin will discuss healthy cooking options and healthy meal preparation.

No RSVP or registration required. If you have specific questions, contact Heather Foy at 812.801.0175.
