Maintaining Healthy Habits during the Holidays

The Holiday season is upon us. Which means we're tempted more than ever to indulge in extra treats, meals, and snacks. We have office parties, family get-togethers, and the joy of baking cookies, just to name a few of the many check-list items. Colder weather and less daylight also makes it easier for us to miss or skip exercise routines. It's no wonder the average person puts on a few pounds between Thanksgiving and New Year's.

In our latest edition of To Your Health, KDH Wellness Coordinator Heather Foy shares some tips and tricks for maintaining healthy habits (and our waistlines) during the Holiday season.

Planning is important. Plan time for exercise. Plan healthy snacks so you have them around. Plan healthy meal options. Eat a small, healthy snack before going to a party where you know there will likely be high-calorie foods. Remember portion sizes. Taste a few different things you enjoy; or have a small piece of your favorite pie. With a little effort, you can begin 2018 without a few extra unwanted pounds.
